ABOUT US

L.A. Mambo Dance Co. was founded in 2016 with the mission of facilitating self-growth and empowerment through the art of salsa dancing. We specialize in teaching salsa On2, or NY Style salsa.

Who We Are

Jhony & Veronica are LA natives that fell in love with the art of salsa dancing many moons ago. Now, we want to share our passion for dancing and the knowledge we picked up along the way with you. We specialize in teaching and growing the NY Style of salsa known as Salsa On2.

What We Do

We teach all levels of salsa dancing in a friendly and fun environment through group classes or private classes. Our group classes are multi-week courses designed to instill students with the knowledge of new moves and the confidence to execute them through progressive exercises.

We Believe

We believe that dancing does not have to be complicated or scary. We believe in breaking down dance moves into their essential components, which very often reveal to use the simplicity & the beauty within them. More than anything, we believe in YOU and your ability to learn and enjoy dance.

Our story

Jhony & Veronica have been dancing salsa On2 for over 18 years.

From performing with various dance companies to directing Mambo Inc., they have acquired over two decades combined of dance knowledge within the salsa world and community.

We began this new venture because we have a mutual respect and love for wanting to help people grow and feel more empowered through the art of dance. We also know that the journey can be intimidating at times because we went through it.

It takes courage to get on the dance floor and we’ve never forgotten that. That’s why we created L.A. Mambo Dance Co.: our way of helping others to learn salsa in a way that is friendly, non-intimidating, and empowering.

Salsa dancing is a wonderful thing and it completely changed our lives. Neither of us began this journey with performing or teaching in mind; we just wanted to learn how to do some basic turns and maybe muster up the courage to ask someone we admired to dance. Like many of you visiting this page, we were scared and self-conscious and we were oblivious to the impact dancing would have on us.

See, there is beauty in the flow, movement, and improvisation of salsa dancing. But its true beauty lies in how it transforms individuals from within. Learning to dance becomes a journey of discovery; one that you travel internally as well as with others as you discover the art of leading and following. Like a conversation, dancing with another human being requires clarity, engagement, and respect—where leading and following take the form of commas, periods, exclamation marks and yes, even question marks.

We’re deep believers that in clarity of dance there is beauty. Our classes are thus structured with progress in mind, which is why we don’t do drop-in classes. We build on concepts and practice technique. We address the fundamentals at every level because they’re the key to the ease and simplicity of more advanced moves. But more than anything, we focus on helping each of our students along their personal dance trajectory because not every person is the same.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing our passion of dance and we hope you get as much out of salsa dancing as we have.
